I recently did a project for Responsible use of Data & Algorithms and I used claude code for it. and it fully blinded me. The results I showed in my presentation, did not match the text claude wrote in the presentation. The professor obviously questioned me on it and I couldn’t explain it.

The discrepancy was so embarassing especially for a masters student. I genuinely did think I verified all the results and made sure they were consistent.

This was our project -

and this is what I did -

This is what claude wrote, which I didn’t question -

I was pretty disappointed in myself after this entire experience so I decided to do some digging and mailed the professor with these updated results. I doubt if he will reply but its a start.

I also did not renew my claude code subscription. I realised, I used it not just to write code but to one shot presentations and analysis. I learned coding for 4 years of my undergrad, I am not developing a dependency on claude.

However, I do believe using claude can be productive and improve your learning curve. There is a right way to use claude but I just haven’t figured it out yet. Hopefully I will reach there soon.

Best, Gargi
